A Tasmanian school with a modern, innovative take on education has come top of the class with both its NAPLAN results in 2021 and now recognition with an ‘excellence’ award for its Strategic plan.
OneSchool Global has two campuses in Tasmania, one in Launceston and one in Hobart, with 132 primary and secondary students across both.
“The Australian Education Award is a real testament to the hard work of the staff, and the ongoing commitment to excellence right across the school community”, Patrick Coleman, District Principal for OneSchool Global Launceston said.
“We are incredibly proud of the whole school community where both our students and the teaching fraternity have showed incredible resilience and endeavour during the last few years.”
Mr Coleman said the school was committed to achieving the highest levels of teaching from staff and academic potential from students.
“Our Strategic Plan is focused on building this commitment and delivering a high-quality teaching and learning program.
“From Year 3, our students are empowered take control of their learning, setting their goals, reflecting on their achievements, and becoming more self-directed as they progress through the years.”
“Our unique evidenced-informed learning and teaching program is student centred and produces life-ready students who learn how to learn, and achieve,” Mr Coleman said.
“It’s great to be recognised among our peers through the excellence award.”
Mr Coleman said one of the advantages of OneSchool Global is the blended face-to-face and online learning model, which meant despite all the challenges of Covid-19 the students were well-prepared and able to adjust to changes as they came.
“We are encouraged to see our 2021 NAPLAN results compete with some of Tasmania’s elite schools, but more importantly, demonstrate a continued average improvement across all students.”
OneSchool Global has 31 campuses across Australia in Queensland, NSW, Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia, and Western Australia.
Winners of the Australian Education Awards are announced on 12 August.
