For many OneSchool Global students, the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) is an opportunity to explore a personal interest in depth. For OSG Paris graduate, Louana, it became the starting point for an exciting achievement: publishing her own cookbook, and catalyst for her marketing career.
With the book celebrating its two-year anniversary, we sat down with Louana to reflect on how the project shaped her career aspirations.
Born in France, Louana always had a passion for pastries. She enjoyed experimenting with flavours and refining her baking skills, balancing her academic studies with her growing interest in the culinary arts.
When it came time to choose a topic for her EPQ project, Louana decided she wanted to create something both creative and personal.
“I had complete freedom to choose my topic, which made the project both challenging and exciting. After researching different ideas, I realised I wanted to create something creative rather than a traditional written project.”
Her idea soon took shape as Quinze Choux, which means ‘Fifteen Choux’ in French. The cookbook focused entirely on choux pastry, bringing together fifteen original recipes based on this classic and versatile dough.
“Even though I didn’t know much about choux pastry at the start, I was curious. I always found it fascinating how a single dough could be used in so many ways: different shapes, flavours, and sweet or savoury.”
Developing the cookbook required much more than baking. Throughout the project, Louana learned how to plan and manage a long-term project, organise research, and balance her work alongside her school commitments.
“I learned how to manage a long project on my own, set objectives, meet deadlines and take responsibility for my work.”
In 2024, Quinze Choux was published and is now available on several platforms, including Amazon, Cultura, La Fnac, and Books on Demand – the platform that printed and distributed her book. Seeing her work published and accessible to readers was a truly rewarding experience.
Louana, now working as a Marketing Manager, reflects on how the EPQ project gave her valuable experience in content creation and presentation. It also helped her build confidence in working independently and managing a project from start to finish – skills she now uses in her marketing role.
Louana’s journey is a great example of how OSG develops skills that prepare students for life beyond school. By turning an idea into a published cookbook, she demonstrated independence, creativity, time management, and resilience – all essential qualities for life beyond school. We’re very proud of her!
