The long game of cricket requires patience, endurance, hard work and taking chances. The lessons Craig St. Hill learned as a semi-professional cricketer and athletic coach have positioned him for success at OneSchool Global’s Barbados campus in North America.
Craig St. Hill spent his early career as a semi-professional cricketer and coach. He learned the value of strategy, teamwork and keeping his skills sharp and his eyes open. When a teaching opportunity at our OneSchool Global Barbados campus presented itself, he saw the similarities between coaching and teaching and decided to take a shot at this career move.
While teaching Physical Education and Geography, he immediately admired the passion students brought to their studies and the field.
After just two years of teaching, an opportunity presented for Craig to become the Barbados Campus Principal. He jumped at this chance, largely because he knew he’d have the support of his OSG team on the next leg of his journey.

A typical day as Campus Principal for Craig is all about balance. He is mindful of his administrative duties and teaching responsibilities but also carves out time to collaborate with students in the Learning Center. He leans on his coaching skills and provides consistent feedback to help his entire team be their best.
One thing that Craig likes best about working at OneSchool is the cutting-edge technology that keeps the student experience at OSG always ahead of the curve. There’s also a concerted effort to make sure the students are well-rounded academically and with their extra-curriculars.
His students and parents are impressively passionate across the board. “At OneSchool, parents are truly invested in the self-directed approach embedded in the Learning to Learn Framework. They help ensure the students are prepared not just academically when they come to school, but personally as well.”
Much like practice between matches, Craig appreciates the reliable weekly senior leadership meetings, workshops and professional development opportunities at OneSchool. They help bridge the geographical gap that otherwise separates Craig and his OSG colleagues. “The support system at OneSchool is top-notch. I’m never too far away from a Campus Principal that I can connect with at anytime. It feels really good to have that level of interconnectivity.”
The beautiful Barbados campus is home to over 50 students ranging from Primary through Secondary with 14 lovely staff members. If you have the pleasure of visiting, you will immediately feel welcomed with positivity from the staff and students. “Although the number of Caribbean campuses at OSG makes up a relatively small number in North America (just 4 in total) we make up for it with our heart, energy and passion.”
Outside of OneSchool, Craig remains passionate about sports. He is still involved in playing cricket and coaching, and continues lending support to his cricket club, anytime he gets the chance.
After six years of working at OneSchool, Craig is still energised about his career. He feels OneSchool has more than delivered on his expectations and he doesn’t take it for granted one day of the week.
In the next 5 – 10 years, Craig still hopes to be the Barbados Campus Principal. With each visit to one of North America’s 36 campuses, he’s always gaining insights on ways to improve his leadership game and enjoys the comrade with his teammates and students.
