Students across our UK campuses recently took part in Careers Day, an engaging opportunity designed to connect classroom learning with real-world experiences while supporting the UK curriculum’s focus on careers education and future pathways.
Across campuses, students collaborated across year levels to explore a range of industries, career options and workplace roles. Through teamwork, research and presentation activities, students developed ideas to share with judging panels, building confidence, communication skills and creativity along the way.
A special highlight came from Newtown campus, where this year’s Careers Day included a VIP visit from Tony Ward, a highly respected official in Para sport.
Mr Ward was appointed as an official to the Paralympic Games in Beijing 2008, London 2012, Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020, and served as Technical Delegate at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. He was also awarded a British Empire Medal (BEM) for services to swimming and Para swimming.
Students worked together to help coordinate the visit, taking on responsibilities across teams including security, health and safety, and media. Each group played an important part in ensuring the day ran smoothly and that their guest received a warm welcome.
It was wonderful to see strong collaboration between primary and senior students, who worked side by side throughout the event. Their teamwork, responsibility and enthusiasm reflected many of the practical skills Careers Day is designed to encourage.
Experiences like Careers Day help students develop confidence, communication skills and a broader awareness of the opportunities available to them beyond school.
