At OneSchool Global, education extends beyond academics. We develop life-ready students who learn how to learn and achieve.
The Senior Legacy Project is a timely opportunity for OSG seniors to make their mark before graduating. In some cases, students fundraise for a local charity. In other cases, they gift something helpful to their campus. In the case of Carina , a OneSchool Global Kalispell campus graduate in North America, it was both.
Thinking with the end in mind
Carina knew she wanted to give back to the Student Leadership Team (SLT) at the Kalispell campus to help fund future campus initiatives. When choosing an organisation that helps others beyond OneSchool Global, she chose A.L.E.R.T (Advanced Life-Support and Emergency Rescue Team), the region’s air ambulance service.
Fundraising goals aligned
Helping others rarely happens in a vacuum. In a full circle moment, Carina shared, “Growing up in northwest Montana I always noticed a bright red helicopter flying overhead. It wasn’t until after we had started the fundraiser that I realized A.L.E.R.T themselves were raising money for a new helicopter. This motivated me more to do the best I could for them, so they could have a greater impact on the community.”
Setting a goal charted for success
Carina set an ambitious goal: raise US$10K through a year-long, campus-wide fundraising initiative. She engaged all 17 students on campus and the support of the staff. Starting with personal goals, the campus worked creatively and collaboratively throughout the school year to contribute what they could.
Collectively, the campus surpassed their fundraising goal and donated 55% to A.L.E.R.T. and the remaining 45% to Kalispell’s Student Leadership Team for future campus student-led initiatives.
What happened along the way
Ashley Tkachyk, OneSchool Global Kalispell Campus Principal shared, “Carina’s Senior Legacy Project brought our entire campus together in a way that was both meaningful and memorable. She inspired students and staff to work toward a shared goal, creating a fun and engaging experience while making a real difference for our community. Raising more than $5,000 for A.L.E.R.T is an incredible achievement, but even more impressive was the leadership, teamwork and generosity Carina inspired throughout the journey.”
Making a powerful impact
For many families throughout the region, A.L.E.R.T. Program, under Logan Health, provides a critical lifeline, connecting patients with emergency medical care when every moment matters.
“We are incredibly grateful to OneSchool Global and the students whose fundraising efforts will directly support the future of emergency air medical transport in our region. Their generosity will help bring the next A.L.E.R.T helicopter to our community, providing a larger air ambulance that allows more advanced care to be delivered during flight while also making it possible for a parent or loved one to accompany a patient during some of life’s most critical moments.” – Carly St. Onge, Chief Development Officer, Logan Health Foundation
Leaving a legacy of help and hope
Carina’s successful Senior Legacy Project did more than raise and donate funding. This project inspired teamwork, showed what leadership looks like and contributed the hope and help on board, each time the A.L.E.R.T’s helicopter takes flight.
Thank you, Carina, members of A.L.E.R.T, Logan Health, and all who take time to help others. Legacies come in all shapes and sizes. What you do makes a difference.
