Students and staff across six campuses acted with a common purpose: to provide nourishment for those in need. By connecting with local food banks and community organisations, their impact was substantial. From sandwich-making in Montreal to thousands of pounds of food collected, these initiatives highlight the commitment our students and staff have to being good neighbours.
Although the size of our campuses are relatively small, their impact has been tremendous. Here’s a closer look at the ways each campus delivered:
With so many in the Gothenburg area using the local food pantry, our Gothenburg campus rallied together to deliver over 125 food items to the Gothenburg Food Pantry.
In Montreal, students and staff partnered with Bread & Beyond, a local nonprofit focused on food insecurity. Together, they prepared over 100 sandwiches for community members in need. During this hands-on service experience students learned how the organisation is run and the three words that capture their mission: Inform. Connect. Respond.
What began as a modest goal at our Chicago campus, turned into an extraordinary contribution to the Elk Grove Village Food Pantry. With help from our 22 students and 30+ volunteers, the campus collected 1,649 pounds of non-perishable food. They collected twelve shopping carts filled with food, which far exceeded
their original goal of four. The food pantry staff were ‘blown away’ by both the amount of food and effort behind this generous donation, emphasising how meaningful the contribution would be for families in need.
Motivated by the visible lines outside the Flathead Food Bank, our Kalispell campus students organised a robust food drive. They were able to donate 550 pounds of food to provide support to local families facing ongoing food insecurity.
Students at our Rideau Lakes campus did their part too and gathered 65 pounds of non-perishable food that were donated to the Elgin Food Bank.
Our Rochester campus took a slightly different approach for their annual outreach to the Webster Community Chest. This year, they set a fundraising goal of $2,200 towards high-quality food purchased at a nearby Aldi. Their donation equaled over 500 pounds of groceries, plus $600 in donations to support Webster Community Chest’s future needs. The Webster Community Chest, which provides meal support for more than 150 local families, stocked the shelves with over a month’s worth of food from our campus’ contribution. With rising need and a doubling of food-insecure households in recent years, the organisation emphasised how critical this donation was for ensuring families would have enough to eat.
