From the moment she stepped into OneSchool Global New Zealand’s Auckland campus, Jennifer Mayne felt something different – a rhythm of collaboration, growth, and balance that reshaped how she saw teaching.
Since joining OSG in 2024 as Head of Social Sciences, Jennifer has discovered a community that empowers teachers to thrive. “I chose OSG because of the Learning to Learn Framework,” she explains. “Students can have help from teachers, but they also learn how to be independent learners and lifelong learners that will prepare them for after school.”

“We are a collaborative team. We work really well together,” she says. “We teach from an assignment that all the teachers are working from. You’re all sharing your experience and your knowledge to construct this, so you’re making the best resources you can for the students.”
Teaching can be an incredibly rewarding profession, but Jennifer believes having clear boundaries is essential to maintaining that sense of fulfilment over the long term.
“We work from 8am until 4pm,” she explains. “Within that time, you have your parent-teacher interviews, department meetings, campus meetings, and your planning and prep time.”
Knowing there is dedicated time for planning, collaboration and administration helps create a more sustainable and rewarding way of working.
Jennifer’s experience at OSG has also been shaped by the many opportunities available for professional growth. These experiences have given her the chance to connect with colleagues from across New Zealand and see how other campuses operate educationally.
“You are very valued at OneSchool Global,” she says. “They provide lots of professional development, so they’ll fly you to places around New Zealand to attend conferences and meet other parts of the team and see what they’re doing.”
