The Global Teacher Academy

The Global Teacher Academy is OneSchool Global’s in-house teacher training faculty, providing professional development, networking, and support for all teachers.

New teachers complete a globally consistent Induction program, followed by mentorship from experienced educators. Throughout the year, teachers participate in a range of professional development sessions — both in person and via Zoom — covering topics such as real-world applications of the Learning to Learn Framework.

The Teacher Academy is a key part of how our teachers rediscover the joy of teaching.

Our Global Teacher Academy Journey

The Academy is structured into three key Stages

Stage 1: Educator Induction

  • Over 38 weeks, all new educators across the globe work towards earning the Educator Induction Badge, qualifying them to progress into Stage 2. This phase provides in-depth learning about The Assignment and how it functions.
  • Student Support Educators undertake a tailored Induction Course that focuses on their specific role and needs.

Stage 3: Self-Directed Professional Learning

  • Educators complete 15 hours of Self-Directed Professional Learning each year, consisting of:
  • 5 hours completing 10 × 30-minute Global Teacher Academy lessons
  • 10 hours of self-directed time, where learning is applied and its impact is reflected upon

Stage 2: OneSchool Educator

  • After achieving the Educator Induction Badge, teachers progress to Phase 2 courses. Upon successful completion of Teaching the Assignment, Designing the Assignment, and MAP Growth courses, they are awarded the OneSchool Educator Badge.
  • Graduates of Stage 2 become confident designers and facilitators of The Assignment, effectively applying OSG’s Learning to Learn Framework. They can then access Stage 3.
  • In consultation with their Campus Principal, some educators may also complete the Mentoring course, enabling them to guide others through the induction process.

On-Demand Professional Learning

  • In addition to each stage, there is a bespoke library of short learning experiences available to educators in every stage of their journey. These can be accessed at any time, according to the professional learning needs of each educator.

“Participating in the Teaching the Assignment professional development course has been an invaluable experience for me as an educator. It has equipped me with the tools to critically analysze my teaching practice, identifying strengths, and areas for growth. The course helped me reflect on how my instructional methods, lesson designs, and classroom management impact student outcomes. I’ve been able to refine my approaches to differentiation, student engagement, and assessment, ensuring that I meet the diverse needs of my learners.”
