When Angela Wigan first stepped into OSG’s Copenhagen (Europe) campus in 2011, she joined as a part-time English teacher, working two days per week. Never could she have predicted that the role would launch a fourteen-year journey across leadership, curriculum development, regional strategy, and global collaboration – ultimately leading her to her current role as Regional Director of Education for OneSchool Global Europe.
Angela quickly proved her passion for teaching and student support, and when a vacancy for Campus Principal opened, she was encouraged to apply. She accepted the challenge and spent the next seven years shaping the Copenhagen campus and supporting its growth. During this time, Angela also forged links with campuses across the EU region to support students on smaller campuses – the first steps to becoming aligned as a region.
But that was only the beginning.
Over the years, Angela has held numerous positions across OSG, each bringing new purpose and fresh learning. She became Head of English, developing a unified curriculum based on the UK Key Stage 2 and 3 framework and launched cross-campus online English learning via Zoom long before remote collaboration became mainstream. She also gained exam-centre approval for the region to host qualifications such as GCSEs and EPQ, supporting academic pathways for students across Europe.
Her background in student support brought another opportunity – Angela was appointed Director of Student Support, where she designed processes to align with the global regions and enhance the pastoral experience for students. Angela also led the Career Advancement Program, the foundation of today’s OSG Accelerate for senior students, and was also Teacher Academy Director for Europe, contributing to the writing of the Teacher Academy Courses designed to support staff in embedding the learning to learn framework.
Reflecting on her journey, Angela shares:
“I would not stay in a job just for the sake of it. I need the challenge, and I need to be engaged and interested. OneSchool Global has always offered me the opportunity to grow and given me the autonomy to build and innovate.”
As Regional Director of Education, no two days look the same. Angela oversees a leadership team including Regional Principals, Directors of Teaching and
Learning, and Student Support, alongside campus visits, strategic planning, and daily collaboration.
Operating across seven countries, 11 campuses, seven curricula, and multiple languages makes Europe OSG’s smallest yet most complex region. Navigating laws, compliance requirements and training accessibility is an ongoing challenge – one that Angela embraces.
“It’s always very busy. I have a plan for the day – but it can go off course depending on what needs to be prioritised,” says Angela.
“I operate an open-door policy, and our team is small, close-knit and very collegiate.”
Across the global leadership landscape, Angela highlights the strong representation of women – including Teacher Academy directors, senior operational leaders, and global heads of education.
“My leadership team is 60% female. I have always been supported and encouraged throughout my journey,” Angela adds.
One of the unique aspects Angela values is the opportunity to work closely with colleagues across the world.
“It’s good to see that if I go into a campus in Australia, I can see very similar routines to the UK. We learn from one another and operate with a truly global perspective. That’s quite unique in education,” says Angela.
