Triple triumph: OSG students tie for first in State, teacher marks eighth win

For an eighth time, OneSchool Global (OSG) Maitland teacher Andra Rensburg has guided her students to the top of the state for Financial Services in the Higher School Certificate (HSC) – with two students claiming First in Course in 2025.

Year 12 students Bonnita Earl from our Albury campus and Haigh Proctor from our Sydney campus have received equal first-place awards from the Acting Education Minister Courtney Houssos at the 2025 First in Course ceremony at the University of NSW.

“It was really surprising to learn that I had topped the state in Financial Services,” said Bonnita Earl, OneSchool Global Albury student.

“I am so grateful for Mrs Rensburg’s guidance and knowledge, she is a teacher that really invests in her students and is really engaging. I am also really grateful that I was able to learn from Mrs Rensburg despite their being more than 700 kilometres between us, thanks to OneSchool Global’s technology-supported remote learning capabilities.”

This is the sixth consecutive year, and now eighth time overall, that a student of Andra Rensburg has taken the honour of First in Course for Financial Services – and even more surprisingly, the first time it’s been a tie between two!

Mrs Rensburg congratulated Bonnita and Haigh on their achievements while acknowledging the success of her previous students.

“This result is the culmination of 12 months of hard work by Bonnita and Haigh – and it is so exciting to have two students at the top. I commend them both for this impressive result – and I look forward to seeing how they go on to their talents in her life after school, whether that’s through further studies or going into the workforce.”

OneSchool Global Regional Principal Travis Hopgood congratulated Mrs Rensburg, Bonnita and Haigh on their shared achievement.

“We are thrilled for Bonnita and Haigh to have received this acknowledgment of their hard work and success today.

“We are also so proud of Mrs Rensburg’s stellar track record – and her continued success with students in this subject is a testament to OneSchool Global’s innovative and supportive learning environment allows our students and teachers to achieve their best.”

Attending the ‘First in Course’ event with the Acting Education Minister, Bonnita and Andra were featured in the Newcastle Herald and in Channel 7 News.
