Learning to Learn Conference

OneSchool Global’s Learning to Learn Conference in North America, was another example of OneSchool’s global commitment to professional development and delivering learning outcomes for students.

During the week of 19 August, OneSchool Global North America staff from across the U.S.A, Canada, and the Caribbean came together in Chicago, Illinois.

Following on from preceding Leading Remarkable Learning events held in New Zealand and the United Kingdom, which have featured keynote addresses from educational leaders like Sir John Jones and Professor Sugata Mitra, the North American conference welcomed Dr. Selina Samuels as the keynote speaker.

Dr. Samuels has had a long history with OneSchool Global, leading the development of some of the seminal frameworks and documents that underpin its self-directed learning approach.

“It is incredibly exciting. For anyone out there studying Masters classes or collegiate courses, what you are reading about and hearing about of the future of education, we are doing in our classrooms… and we’ve been doing that for about five years now.”

The event also covered continued learning on a range of the systems that support learning at OneSchool Global, such as MAP Growth, Canvas, and Zoom for online teaching.

“An event like this is a fantastic way to start the year,” said Mr. Lucas Bedell, Educational Director for North America. “Our leadership team could not be more excited for the 2019/20 school year ahead for OneSchool Global North America”.

The opportunity to unite and engage staff from across the region was one that educators and leadership found extremely beneficial.

“The conference was an outstanding professional development opportunity for our staff, but more importantly, it was an opportunity to continue to build a sense of ‘team’ across the region,” said Mr. Jonathon Borys, Educational Director for North America. “Our culture is one of the most important things we continue to grow, and this week certainly accelerated that.”

As the videos attached to this story will demonstrate, OneSchool North America staff are enthusiastic and excited for this year and the future of OneSchool Global.

“In the next five years, I see OneSchool Global as one of the leaders and pioneers in education. I see us being a frontrunner in education. At the pace in which we are moving now, I think that this is highly attainable.”
