Cassandra’s Journey: A Little Chaos, A Lot of Love

Cassandra is the kind of leader whose hard work, ambition and caring nature inspire those around her. Whether she’s teaching math or navigating the demands of her career while raising three boys, her drive to make a difference is contagious. She approaches every challenge with dedication and a deep sense of purpose, balancing her professional and personal life with incredible strength and grace.

This International Women’s Week, we celebrate women like Cassandra, who embrace every challenge life throws at them with resilience, unwavering leadership, and a heart full of love.

Cassandra’s journey to OSG—and beyondbegan at Kent State University, Ohio, USA where she chose to pursue a degree in honour of her late brother. Initially studying sports nutrition, she quickly realised that her true passion was teaching. “I’ve always loved math,” Cassandra shares. “My dad was a carpenter, and he taught me to appreciate the power of numbers from a very young age..

Her first experience with OSG began when she saw an opening for a math teacher at the Ashland (North America) campus. Cassandra joined the OSG team and was welcomed by Jonathon Borys, then Campus Principal, who became a mentor and guide in her journey. As Jonathon moved into higher leadership roles, he saw something special in Cassandra and asked her to step into his Campus Principal role.

At the same time, Cassandra had a growing family. Pregnant with her first son, she enrolled in a master’s program to gain her principal’s licence.

“I thrive on chaos, studying for my master’s, raising a newborn, and teaching full-time was overwhelming, but I loved every minute of it.”

But her life wasn’t without hardship. In 2021, her husband was diagnosed with aggressive leukemia, and Cassandra found herself balancing family responsibilities, full-time job all whilst studying for her PhD.  We’re pleased to confirm that her husband has since made a great recovery.

“It was incredibly tough, but OSG supported me through it all,” she reflects. “They allowed me to focus on my family without sacrificing my role as a teacher.”

Despite the challenges, Cassandra completed her Doctorate, focusing her research on OSG’s innovative tutoring program. “I realised how rare it is for schools to offer built-in tutoring during the school day,” she says proudly. “Our approach is unique and effective. It was amazing to see the results of my research and how OSG’s model helps students succeed in ways other schools can’t replicate.”

At home, Cassandra’s leadership extends beyond the classroom. Now with three young boys, she runs her household with the same strength, wisdom, and love that she brings to her professional life. “We call our home the ‘queendom,’” she laughs. “In our house, we play ‘Queen of the Mountain.’ It’s a fun way to teach my boys that women lead with strength and grace.”.

Despite her busy life, Cassandra always makes time for herself. “I take a walk every day,” It’s my time to reset and reflect. I need that quiet moment to recharge and focus on what’s next.” It’s a small but powerful ritual that helps Cassandra stay grounded as she continues to balance her career, family, and personal growth.

Looking to the future, Cassandra is excited about the next chapter of her journey. “Every day at OSG is a new opportunity to grow, learn, and help others. I get to work with amazing staff from all over the world, and that keeps me inspired,” she says.

Being part of an organisation that values and challenges you is something that motivates me every day. I wouldn’t trade it for anything.”

From the classroom to home, Cassandra leads with commitment.  And with the impending arrival of her fourth son, we know Cassandra will continue to shows us that with passion, perseverance and a little chaos, anything is possible.

Her story highlights the strength and resilience that individuals bring to every aspect of their lives. From the classroom to the home, Cassandra leads with unwavering commitment, demonstrating the ability to balance family, career, and personal growth.
