Canterbury Campus is nestled in a secluded rural setting on the southern outskirts of Christchurch. With a 2-hectare land area and refurbished and air-conditioned classrooms, this campus has more than adequate facilities for the 126 students and 18 staff members. We are soon to relocate to a brand new, purpose-built facility on the southern edge of Rangiora. This is a state-of-the-art location that embodies the best of modern learning spaces and makes the most of natural light and open spaces.
Our staff enjoy a collaborative team atmosphere, generous resourcing and supportive families to work with. We maximise teaching effectiveness through providing training and professional development. Our staff enjoy the best opportunities to see their students thrive and grow and it is a very satisfying school in which to work.
A major emphasis is placed on the individual student reaching his/her full potential. By operating in small class groups and ensuring that each student is individually known and cared for, we provide the ideal learning environment. Our students learning programmes are based on the NZ curriculum, and we place a lens of school wide values alongside their learning, to support the development of well-rounded and positive students.
The success of every school largely hinges on the co-operation, communication and cohesion of all its members and Canterbury Campus boasts many voluntary support personnel, in the form of librarians, canteen workers and bus drivers.
“We are a caring school where students enjoy the experience but at the same time we set high expectations. We believe in creating a culture whereby students can learn to be successful, self-directed learners.”
The use of up-to-date video conferencing equipment for campus to-campus communication and specialist subject teaching broadens the subject range for senior students as well as making best use of our human and material resources nationwide. We aim to develop self directed learners and have a range of strategies to enhance our students’ self-management and study skills.
At our School, students are encouraged to develop their full potential and acquire the discipline of ‘learning how to learn’, while upholding fundamental Christian teachings and beliefs, especially those of purity, integrity and godliness. The truth and authority of the Holy Bible and strong family values underpin the commitment of the School to provide quality in every facet of education – curriculum, teachers, facilities, management and discipline – in a safe, secure and caring environment.
